Frequently Asked Questions

How many samples will be required to send to the lab for testing?

This will depend on your product components and certificate requirements, typically 5 – 10 samples, however it may be less. We will advise you after discussing your requirements. Please contact us for further information.

Who selects the samples for testing?

We suggest that the test samples come from your order batch. We can select the samples from the factory. (Travel costs may apply)

What testing companies do you use?

We use SGS or Intertek as they are internationally recognised. You can also nominate your testing company of choice.

What certificates do I need to apply for?

We will send 1 sample to the testing company and they will advice the tests required to adhere to UK compliance

Does your fee include the lab test costs?

No, our fee is for our service only and this includes arranging the samples, filling all the application forms, liaising with the testing company and factory throughout each test, review of the draft reports and re-tests if necessary and confirming the final reports and certificates. The lab testing is a separate cost.

How long does it take to finish the lab tests and certification?

Generally, lab tests and certification can take between 14 to 30 days.

What else will I need from the supplier apart from the samples for testing?

You’ll also need the Bill of Materials (BOM) from your supplier listing all the components.

What if the components or samples fail any tests

We can have new components or samples tested. There may be additional costs.

Will you liaise with the testing company and the supplier during the product testing

Yes, there is normally a lot of communicating between parties relating to components and test parameters.

Will the certificates be in my company name?

Yes, all the reports and certificates will include your company name.

Will there be any other costs to pay?

Generally no, the quote we will provide will be what you will need to pay, unless retesting is required.
